Ellodie Cassandra Solaire made a single, solitary New Year’s resolution.

That resolution was set in stone, and she wouldn’t be breaking it, no matter what.

It was simple: Say yes to every person who asks her out on a date until she finds a boyfriend.

Easy, right?

Wrong.

She breaks that New Year’s resolution three months into the year after a guy gives her serial killer vibes.

Fast forward three months, and she’s unhappily saying yes to any man who asks.

Until one day, there she is, eating a chicken burrito waiting for traffic to clear, and he appears like a knight in shining armor.

One second, she’s counting down the seconds until the parade dissipates so she can go home, and the next, a car is flying through the air directly beside her, courtesy of a hot cop performing a PIT maneuver.

It’s during the middle of the arrest when Quaid Carter’s eyes find hers.

From that moment on, she’s lost to anyone else but him.

The only problem is that serial killer vibe she got off of her potential date a few months ago isn’t just a vibe. It’s a full-blown obsession. And the serial killer decides that she won’t be the one to get away.

Quaid Carter has different ideas, though.

I Can’t Even is book 2 in the Carter Brothers series, this time featuring triplet Quaid. He is also a police officer and is currently the sergeant in charge of the beat cops. He meets Elliodie after a dramatic car chase and its a great meet cute. Quaid falls first, but realizes that Ellodie is a bit of a walking disaster. She just thinks he a hot cop. But, nothing in Ellodie’s life is going well right now and Quaid is about to dive in.

Ellodie is a nurse who is in school to become a nurse anesthetist. She is tired of how dangerous the ER is. She also decided to say yes to every guy who asked her out that year. She has been on many miserable dates with creeps and losers. The only guy she turned down, breaking her rule, turns out to be a killer. He wants Ellodie, the one who got away. Quaid falls for Ellodie quickly as they run into each other freqently and when he learns she has a connection to this killer, he and his family of cops swoop in to help keep her safe. Overall, I really enjoyed Quaid and Ellodie! They have a great relationship and it felt really natural, given the very unnatural events. The serial killer aspect really keeps you guessing, not just about who it is (although, I did figure that one out) but when he might strike. And there were some additional surprises as well. Overall, I Can’t Even is a great edition to the Carter Brothers series and I am excited to get more of this family!

    • Hands down, my most read author. I just know I will always enjoy her books. Haven’t read one I didn’t give at least 3.5 stars to!
